About
Situated just off Old Street roundabout, this charming old corner pub has been given new life as an airy all-day eatery. Its daily changing menu features dishes that draw on both classic British and European cuisine. Our starter of jellied pork terrine over-emphasised the jelly, while an earthy crab soup came with a rich rouille and crisp-thin croûtons, yet still missed the mark somewhat. We had more success with our mains: Middle White pork patties and borlotti beans arrived with an uplifting salsa verde that cut through the rich meat, and wood pigeon with radicchio was served just the right side of rare. Drinkers have plenty to applaud here, courtesy of a well-curated bar offering a good-sized wine list that spans the globe – including plenty of choice by the glass and carafe. The range of draught beers is also impressive, and there’s even a small list of classic cocktails.
