Very much a foodie hangout, with wine taken just as seriously, the Swan upholds all of the classic virtues of a village pub – thatched roof, open fire, plenty of space for drinking – but combines
them with a casual, relaxed approach to hospitality. Nigel Ramsbottom worked with chef Franco Taruschio in the glory days of the Walnut Tree in Llandewi Skirrid, & is to be congratulated for
his dedication to Suffolk produce & highly accomplished, satisfying cooking. Chalkboards detail what’s on offer, be it fresh seafood such as dressed Cromer crab or grilled halibut on creamy
cabbage, or something meaty – perhaps pork & leek sausages served with mash & sweet & sour red peppers. Genuinely warm service from Carol Ramsbottom adds to the good fun at this local
hero.
