The Sun Inn is an independent, family-friendly pub and restaurant located off the High Street in Dedham, Essex. The restaurant is open daily, serving an Italian-inspired, seasonal lunch and dinner menu, alongside their welcoming local pub and rooms. You can also visit The Sun Inn for breakfast, which is available for residents and pre-booked tables. During the warmer months of the year, there is also a terrace and garden which can be enjoyed.
Undergoing extensive refurbishment in recent years, The Sun Inn has been decorated and restored, complete with bespoke furniture, rich fabrics and soft lighting. You will find a range of comfy seating and wooden tables, exposed brick work and a large open fire. This pub and restaurant aims to have a welcoming feel to both locals and travellers visiting the area.
The menu changes monthly and features a selection of classic pasta and risotto dishes, with favourites such as crab ravioli and squid with chilli and garlic on the menu. You will also find plenty of hearty main courses on the menu, including game in season, rare-breed meat and day-boat landed fish. The menu always offers three cuts of British rare-breed steak including – skirt, sirloin and prime bone-in-rib.
On Sunday there is a generous roast with seasonal changing accompaniments. Those visiting with younger guests will be pleased to learn there is a children's menu available, featuring a number of favourites such as burgers and fries, cod goujons and tomato pasta. There is also the option to order a smaller roast dinner on a Sunday.
Desserts sound equally as tempting, with dishes such as chocolate molten cake served with espresso mascarpone, and a cardamom and orange custard tarte served with olive oil ice cream. If you're looking for something smaller, there is the option to have sweet bites and coffee, or a selection of ice cream and sorbet.
