Replacing Funky Munky, this rare bird is going down a storm with Camberwell’s beer fanciers. Owned by the same people as the Hermit’s Cave opposite, this spruced-up taphouse lacks signage – so look for the Brooklyn Brewery neon through fold-back windows, a sign of good things within. Aside from the aforementioned American lager, a battery of chrome spouts offers quality pints such as Citra from Brodie’s, Ruination Old Foghorn and Deuchar’s IPA. Less familiar names include Odell’s Cut-throat Porter and Yeti Imperial Stout (available in third-of-a-pint measures), while continentals including Schneider Weisse, Liefmans and ‘Kwak’ are every bit as addictive. Also check out the selection of perry and cider, including pressings from Symonds of Herefordshire. One happy punter was moved to exclaim ‘the selection is mental good’. Yes, the range is staggering – and that’s before you consider the Stormbird’s whiskies or wines.
