Kingston Country Courtyard is a stylishly rustic restaurant and rooms based in the historic market town of Wareham, Dorset. Here, you can have it all; sit outside in the charming courtyard with a drink, stay in one of the characterful rooms or enjoy the restaurant's local, sustainable food menu.
Now, it might be fairly routine for eateries to aim for a sense of locality in their menus these days, but The Sawmill Restaurant takes this commitment to the next level, stating that it will only use produce sourced within a pretty impressive 20-mile radius. The team works hard to find Dorset's best suppliers and says that food is the heart of Kingston Country Courtyard.
The food offering is expansive and changes seasonally, but there are plenty of examples from the several menus available. The breakfast menu, for instance, offers a continental buffet of fresh fruits, pastries, homemade bread and cereals, alongside a 'full English' with local pork sausages, smoked bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms and much more, with a vegetarian and vegan option available, too.
For lunch, there's the likes of gourmet sandwiches such as roast beef with horseradish on chef's bread, fish and chips with mushy peas, lamb cobbler with herb-topped scones, local shellfish in spaghetti parcels, and a homemade tower burger with hash browns and smoked Dorset cheese.
The menu has a couple of quirky features, too, providing pack lunches for those who want to spend the day out in the surrounding countryside, or there's BBQ Thursdays which happen every week through the warmer months and sees the chefs try out specials on the grill.
The Sawmill Restaurant is also incredibly passionate about serving up drinks with a local twist, so you'll find bottles on the wine list such as Langham Estate Classic Curvee from Dorset, as well as Lyme Bay Shoreline Rose from Devon.
