There’s no doubt that this 17th-century thatched inn is run with a breezy conviviality. It is old-fashioned hospitality at its most appealing, backed up by low beams, a big open fire, real ales, & some of England’s most spectacular scenery on the doorstep. Blackboard menus are displayed above the fireplaces & the food is pitched exactly right for the rustic surroundings. Sandwiches are available at lunchtime. Despite its rural location, the inn can get packed, so it is best to arrive early.
