The Rockstone is a neighbourhood pub in the heart of Bevois Valley serving traditional British pub grub, hand-picked beers and wines and a wide selection of spirits. It's passionate about the community, and aims to champion local artists and suppliers as much as possible. Most of the art hanging on its walls belongs to local talent, and customers are welcome to purchase anything that catches their eye, if they like.
The Rockstone also boasts not one but two beer gardens, with a ‘secret garden’ available for private hire, no matter the day of the week. It also offers a rotating line-up of live entertainment throughout the week, which means there’s always a reason to pay a visit. Rock up between Wednesday to Saturday to enjoy open mic nights, local DJ sets and a ‘bring your own records to play while you dine’ evening.
The menu, meanwhile, features plenty of classic British dishes. Alongside the likes of ham, egg and chips, and sausage, mash and gravy, you’ll also find a mighty line-up of burgers which you can personalise to your heart’s content. Choose between a house beef pattie, cajun chicken or a roasted veggie pattie and top with an array of toppings: halloumi, bacon, chorizo, jalapenos, hummus, hash browns and BBQ jackfruit are just a few of the options available. Elsewhere, loaded fries and a variety of sides are great for picking at over a pint, and there’s a kids’ menu available too which includes a choice of main courses served with salads, peas or carrots.
A decent selection of carefully-curated beers and wines are served by a friendly team. It also offers a wealth of signature and classic cocktails, which are best enjoyed in one of its beer gardens in the summer sunshine.
