Somerset walk
After a beautiful walk in the Sherbourne countryside, we stopped off for lunch at The Queen's Arms. A super variety of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks on offer as well hot scotch eggs with chorizo, freshly cooked and displayed under a fly net on the bar. We sat outside as the weather was kind, and enjoyed beers and ales with scotch eggs while we checked out the menu.
I went for a crab salad, while friends chose fish and chips, soup of the day and soft shell crab tempura. The fish arrived first and looked deliciously large, the soup next, came in a beautiful iron wrought casket with bread roll accompaniment, while the soft shell crab tempura arrived and also looked deliciously substantial. Sadly the crab salad, though delicious was on the small side and was served in a martini glass. You can imagine my disappointment when I was expecting a slightly more substantial meal. Fortunately I had ordered a fresh pork pie on the side, which had just come out of the oven. This was delicious with chutney and changed my mood. Would I go again. Certainly. Would I order the crab salad? Not unless they serve it in a pint glass.
