Calling all vegetarians, vegan and gluten-free diners, The Purple Carrot is your new hot spot for all day dining. Relax in a cosy atmosphere and enjoy drinks and delicious vegan food in the company of friendly, welcoming staff.
In the heart of Malton, this is a great space for a comforting pit stop to relax in a purely vegetarian and vegan cafe. With the cafe open throughout the day, you can pop in for brunch, lunch, or just a coffee and a slice of cake.
Alongside a drinks menu of speciality teas and barista made coffees, you'll find an ecletic menu of vegan food. Everything from samosa's, to goat's cheese tarts and burritos can be found on the menu so there really is something for everyone.
Start off with a trip to asia with some vegetable spring rolls before travelling specifically to India for some vegetable samosas followed by an aloo saag bhaji; featuring marinated tofu and chickpeas in a creamy spinach curry alongside fluffy, flavoursome basmati rice. Feta adds a taste of the Mediterranean in a feta and spinach borek while a Moroccan filo pie provides diners with plenty of authentic flavours.
At lunch time, take a trip across the pond to Mexico with the stuffed supreme burrito. The sandwiches are certainly a must try: huge slabs of house focaccia sandwich together grilled mushrooms that are accompanied by a choice of oozing cashew or goat's cheese.
Of course, no vegan cafe is complete without some incredible baked goods and The Purple Carrot does not disappoint. The baked cheesecake comes piled with summer berries while the brownie rich and beautifully indulgent. The team also add special items to the menu with previous bakes including a Viennese strudel and some pear and cinnamon crumble buns - just make sure to get down there early while they're still hot out the oven.
