The Prince George is in North Laine, central Brighton. It is a refurbished traditional pub that retains some key original features, such as the long dark wood bar and exposed brick. There’s also a heated back garden, perfect for the warmer months. As a result, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of taking in the city’s vibrant culture, enjoyed by both tourists and locals alike. Its nooks and crannies are a great place to hide away or have a long overdue catch up. Being close to several bus stops also means the pub is easy to reach and get home from.
The plant-based menu is courtesy of T@, who also have sites in Hove and Seven Dials. Bar snacks include corn ribs with a creamy chipotle drip, cauliflower wings with Buffalo sauce, pea and ham vegan araninco, and vegan chicken wings. There’s also nachos and two kinds of loaded fries (poutine or curry).
For the main course, there’s burgers, pittas and a selection of pub classics. Burgers are available with either a vegan beef or mushroom patty and half price every Monday and Tuesday. The three toppings are the classic cheeseburger (cheese, pickle, salad and house sauce), the smokey (applewood cheese, vegan bacon jam, pickle, salad and mayo), and the jerk (Jamaican jerk, pineapple sauce, kraut, jalapeno mayo and salad). Pittas take two forms: sweet and sour tofu or shawarma. Vegan versions of fish pie, steak and chips, hunters chicken and a fish finger bun are all also on offer.
A roast is served on Sundays. These come with the usual accompaniments, including orange and cumin roast carrots and sumac and butternut squash puree. Substitute beef and chicken are available. As well as a beetroot Wellington and a nut roast.
