The Priest Hole Restaurant is an integral part of Kelsick Old Hall, an ancient structure nestled in the enchanting village of Ambleside, at the heart of the idyllic English Lake District. This dining venue, adorned with numerous original features, sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. While you can't taste the atmosphere, it undoubtedly enhances your dining experience at The Priest Hole. On sunnier days, bask in the charm of the delightful outdoor terrace, ideal for al fresco dining or simply enjoying a coffee while observing the day pass by. You'll be pleased to know that the terrace is also dog-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged best friend along with you.
The menu features fresh, homemade traditional Cumbrian and British cuisine, sourced locally to showcase the region's finest flavours. The delicious menu is thoughtfully complemented by the curated selection of wines, chosen for their tasteful harmony with each of the dishes. Additionally, The Priest Hole offers a range of locally brewed bottled ales and beers to complete your dining experience.
The all day menu begins with a seasonal homemade soup served with artisan bread, confit lakeland pork belly with apple, carrot and swede puree and port jus, and a dish of spicy vegan meatballs with arrabiata sauce, vegan cheese and garlic toast. Main dishes include a slow cooked Lake District lamb cobbler with a feta cheese scone and braised red cabbage, 'The Priest' beef burger with all the trimmings, and a four cheese spinach and pine nut lasagne. From 5pm, guests can enjoy a pan fried Barberry duck breast and a selection of Indian curries.
