The Pig's Ear is the first pub venture from the Gladwin brothers, who are paying tribute to their early days with crisp pints of beer in the heart of Chelsea. This spot was previously known as The Chelsea Pig, but has had a transformation in recent years. Whether you're a local looking to enjoy some seasonal favourites or want to sip on real ales as the weekend ticks by, The Pig's Ear is a cracking spot on Old Church Street.
The Pig's Ear table snacks include a wild yeast baguette with herb butter, Lindisfarne oysters with rhubarb and shallot vinegar and Keen's raw milk mature cheddar. The starters are rich and delicious, with options of salt beef croquettes with English wasabi, Cornish sardine bruschetta with nduja emulsion and West London burrata served with Kent flat peaches and Arundel basil. Slightly bigger plates are in between starters and mains, and include the Suffolk red quinoa with Sussex beetroots and tahini yoghurt, cold roasted Nutbourne tomato salad with Arundel basil and feta, and chargrilled Essex broccoli with creme fraiche and chilli dressing.
Next up, try the haricot bean and homemade veal sausage cassoulet, Dorset pork chop with savoy cabbage and jus, or a tasty wild Cornish trout with Sussex kale, lobster and a tomato bisque. Desserts at The Pig's Ear are a small but fine selection. There's a TPE cacao mousse with butterscotch, caramel set cream paired with Sussex strawberries and a cherry crumble baked cheesecake. On a Sunday you can enjoy pork crackling with apple and walnut, followed by cuttlefish with nduja, before a traditional Sunday roast beef, pork belly or whole chicken. Each roast option is served with seasonal Sussex farm vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding.
