The Oyster and Fish House is the first solo venture from celebrated chef Mark Hix, a fish and seafood restaurant showcasing local produce caught off the Dorset coast. Boasting long established relationships with independent suppliers, The Oyster and Fish House uses only the best responsibly sourced ingredients, which are served simply to let the produce shine through. Located on the edge of the Lyme Regis coast, overlooking the harbour, this unique spot is the perfect destination for a long leisurely lunch or dinner, or just to enjoy some oysters and cocktails.
The menu changes frequently according to what local suppliers have in stock. However, you can always expect to see a selection of fresh fish and seafood, served in a modern British style. Begin your meal with oysters available in several varieties, and served with traditional shallot vinaigrette or scotch bonnet mayonnaise. You might choose to accompany these with the likes of cockle popcorn or focaccia and soda bread with smoked anchovy butter.
Starters might include Lyme Bay shellfish soup with rouille and croutons and crispy mackerel salad with smoked bacon and horseradish, with vegetarian options such as Wiltshire beetroot salad with Dorset blue and pickles walnuts. For the main event, enjoy familiar favourites like breaded haddock fillet with chips and mushy peas, or opt for a whole seabass to share between two. Finish with an indulgent Norfolk treacle tart, blueberry pavlova, or for those of you without a sweet tooth, try the farmhouse cheeses with crackers, membrillo and chutney.
The wine list at The Oyster and Fish House upholds the core ideals of local sourcing and features plenty of Lyme Bay labels, British sparkling wines, as well as Old and New World bottles. There are plenty of local craft beers too, plus cocktails made with high-quality spirits like Black Cow vodka.
