The Orange Tree Restaurant is just a few moments away from Torquay harbour, and is known for a wonderful menu that is filled with British-European cuisine. You'll always be met with warm hospitality at The Orange Tree, and can enjoy the most warm and elegant of surroundings, with crisp white linen and glowing candlelight. Vittorio Melis is the working owner of the restaurant, and looks after guests well, with a dedicated team of chefs who are committed to cooking with the very best ingredients and produce the West Country can offer.
To start, try the vegetable soup with butternut squash, red onions, garlic and seasoning, or Skyla goat's cheese with beetroot, raisin puree and honey walnuts. Other starters include the lobster bisque with pan seared scallops, a tomato concasse and fresh dill, and the asparagus with parma ham, parmesan cheese, a garlic butter and gratine. The intermediate refresher course is a selection of refreshing homemade sorbets to cleanse the palate, before mains of tournedos with wild mushroom and shallots, made with South Devon a fillet of beef, wild mushroom duxelles, crispy shallots, madeira jus and white truffle oil. Some of the other mains include the baked hake with tomato, capers and cayenne pepper, and the pan fried French chicken supreme with pine kernels and a cream sauce.
Then to finish things off, be sure to enjoy one of the restaurant’s delicious desserts. There’s a warm apple tart with vanilla ice cream, a Bailey's white chocolate cheesecake, and vanilla panna cotta with winter berries. If you like a boozy touch, try the amaretto creme brulee with homemade shortbread, or the trio of the three most popular. There's also a West Country artisan cheese board, which is served with spiced apple and marrow chutney, and oatmeal and water biscuits.
