SquareMeal Review of The Mill House Inn

This former 18th-century corn mill between the fishing villages of Port Isaac and Boscastle is set within seven acres of wooded valleys and gardens, just a 10-minute stroll from Trebarwith’s stunning beach. The stone-built inn itself is a happy mix of original features and flagstone floors, which complement the light and airy contemporary dining room. Meanwhile, the kitchen plunders the North Cornwall larder for top-quality ingredients – think Porthilly mussels in Cornish Rattler cider and tarragon cream, home-smoked chicken salad or roasted fillet of cod with a herb crust, peppercorn and brandy sauce, balsamic-roast cherry tomatoes and sautéed Tintagel new potatoes. In summer, finish with local strawberries and clotted cream or vanilla and lavender crème brûlée. Local ales from the Tintagel Brewery and a nifty wine list match the enjoyable food.
