Don’t let the name fool you, as The London Inn is actually found in the heart of Padstow, undoubtedly Cornwall’s most famous fishing village and a working harbour too. The London Inn is a family-run pub and restaurant, which is also home to four boutique bedrooms that can be rented out for overnight stays. Rooms are decorated to a high standard and come complete with ensuite bathrooms, a flatscreen television, hot drink making facilities and WiFi. Pooches are welcome too.
Down in the pub and restaurant area, The London Inn serves an all-day menu, although breakfast is reserved for hotel guests only. The lunch and dinner menus consist of a selection of homemade dishes which champion the use of fresh, locally sourced produce including fish caught in nearby areas and meat reared on some of Cornwall’s best farms. The menu comprises pub classics and hearty daily specials, supplemented by seasonal dishes and indulgent desserts.
If you are visiting earlier in the day, you can enjoy a Cornish cream tea: two homemade scones with Cornish clotted cream, strawberry jam and your choice of a pot of tea or filter coffee. If you are visiting for dinner later on, you might begin with soup of the day joined by crusty bread or a homemade Scotch egg with mustard mayonnaise served atop a garden salad. For your main course, choose between the likes of a stacked chargrilled burger served with ‘proper’ chips, beer-battered fish and chips with tartare sauce and mushy peas or the curry of the day with pilau rice, poppadoms and mango chutney. To round off your meal, indulge with tempting options such as chocolate fudge cake with clotted cream or homemade fruit crumble topped with warm custard.
The London Inn welcomes families too, with a dedicated children’s menu available that features dishes such as chicken goujons with chips and vegetables or a ‘build your own’ tortilla wrap option, which will keep the kids entertained.
