Resplendent in leopard-print fabric, this reassuringly old school, family-run hotel bar treads a fine line between cute and kitsch. Camp, it certainly is: from OTT 1920s-style decor, via staff in twee leopard-print waistcoats, to an alfresco space (also home to the eponymous cigar lounge) that, according to season, is comically got up as a beach hut or a wacky winter wonderland complete with grizzly bear. Indoors, to the sounds of live jazz or a pianist, investigate the bar’s signature Leopard Print cocktail (vodka, Amarula, Frangelico and chocolate syrup), or, for more grown-up tastes, classics such as Old Fashioned, Dark & Stormy or, served in a smoking dome, a Manhattan made with Bulleit rye whiskey, maple and apricot brandy. With wines from under £30, premium spirits (including malt whisky flights), and all-day comfort food – steak sandwiches, bratwurst with sauerkraut, Thai curry – this Leopard aims to knock spots off the local competition.
