A stalwart among City watering holes with a history that long pre-dates its present Victorian setting, The Lamb fills with loyal & mostly suited fans at lunchtimes & after work. They congregate in the glazed market avenue outside to sup Young’s Bitter, Directors & Bombardier ales or throng the atmospheric interior to nibble from sharing platters or munch on burgers. A tiled stairway leads to a bright upstairs dining room, where a tartan carpet & framed prints of City views provide a sober setting for more filling dishes such as steak & kidney pud, slow-roast lamb shank with wholegrain mustard mash or a mixed barbecue with pork ribs, chicken wings & corn on the cob. Sadly, service can be hit & miss.
