Based a matter of minutes away from the River Ouse in the charming North Yorkshire city of York, this outpost of the Ivy offers everything you’ve come to expect from Ivy restaurants. Combining an air of tradition and luxury with a good value, all-day food menu, The Ivy St Helen’s Square is a great food option in the centre of York for any occasion.
The spacious dining room’s green walls are covered in pieces of modern art giving the space a fun feeling. Large French windows let in plenty of light and can be opened up during nice days to give the restaurant a more al fresco feeling. Bright orange chairs surround beautifully laid tables covered with white table cloths, whilst a glistening bar sits at the far end of the room.
The huge food offering, served all the way through the day, varies from roast pumpkin soup to seared scallops as starters. Classic main courses include roast fillet of salmon, chicken Milanese, as well as Thy Ivy’s signature shepherd’s pie. There are also a number of steaks on the menu as well as sandwiches ranging from an open halloumi sandwich to a hamburger. There is of course also an appealing dessert menu featuring a chocolate brownie served with malted banana ice cream.
If you want food earlier on in the day, there is a full breakfast menu served every morning as well as a weekend brunch menu on offer from 11-4 on Saturdays and Sundays. There is also a separate vegan and vegetarian menu served throughout the day meaning that there is always something for everyone at The Ivy St Helen’s Square.
All of this is accompanied by an impressive wine list as well as plenty of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options including a selection of classic cocktails.
