About

The Hill is a warm and rustic Mediterranean restaurant in leafy Greenwich. With its prime location nearby to the iconic Greenwich Park in South East London, The Hill provides a great spot to enjoy a Mediterranean menu with a distinctly Latin American twist in a charming building.

Inside of The Hill, you will immediately notice an inviting and cosy atmosphere, with a balance of contemporary design and traditional charm creating a warm and welcoming environment.

The menu at The Hill is a celebration of Mediterranean dining - offering a taste of a great menu with detail of each dish's origin. The restaurant uses seasonal and locally sourced ingredients that cater to a range of tastes. Starters include creamy burratina from the Murgia region of Puglia, a Latin plantain dish of platanos frito con queso and tamal de cerdo, a Peruvian dish made from ground white corn dough. For mains, there are a wide range of choices, including beef stroganoff and Ecuadorian seco de chivo, to traditional paella and plenty of pizza options with all the classic toppings.

Of course, there's plenty of tapas options, including croquetas de jamón, Manchego cheese, calamari and patatas bravas. Sweet treats include desserts from Italy, Spain and Argentina and a selection of cheeses from several countries. Children are well catered for, with firm favourites of margarita pizza, chicken breast and churros with dulce de leche sauce up for grabs. The wine list also includes tipples from a variety of countries in the Mediterranean, including Argentina, Spain, France and Italy.

Cocktails include all the regular classics, with glasses and jugs of sangria on offer for those who truly want to feel transported to the Mediterranean.

Wonderful, family owned restaurant, with great seasonal food with a South American twist inspired by the owners. Gorgeous garden to enjoy in summer months, with beautiful artwork from the owners' father, who is a renowned artist in his native Uruguay.

The worse non lunch I had ... we left before it started
It took days (and I do mean days) just to get the reservation confirmed ... that should have been our first hint to the terrible experience awaiting us. We arrived today for a late Sunday lunch with one very hungry 7 year old in tow, Sat down, ordered bread, butter, olives, two cocktails and a bottle of sparkling water. No bread and butter, but could do garlic bread - ok we will have that. Water arrived. Twenty minutes later asked if we wanted to order our food ... reminded them we were waiting for drinks and the waitress looked genuinely surprised - clearly having NO memory at all about the drinks, despite her being the one that took the order. Asked her if there was a child menu - answer could not have been less clear. "We do pizza and pasta" . Yes, great but is that pizza and pasta in smaller portions from the main menu or specific ones in the form of a child's menu. To this moment I don't know the answer as her reply could not have been less clear. Accepted that we would just order something from the main menu for the child in the form of a pizza. Drinks, twenty minutes later STILL had not arrived. At that point I went outside, called our favourite local Italian restaurant and asked them to accommodate us with a table in half an hour, the answer was yes so we asked for the bill and left. Ironically the bill took less than two minutes to arrive so was by quite some margin the fastest thing of the entire experience. WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK AND WILL MAKE SURE WE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT HOW AWFUL THIS RESTAURANT'S SERVICE IS!!!!

RIP The Hill Gastropub
Don't come here with children whatever you do. Food is fairly mediocre so not sure why you would come here at all. Jamies nearby is better in every respect, food, service, atmosphere, price…
