Pig & Truffle is a modern restaurant with space for 40 in Little Dunmow. A proud Essex restaurant that focuses on the finest of modern British cuisine, Pig & Truffle is the place to be if you want to enjoy truly amazing seasonal produce in a friendly setting. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday, and open for lunch and dinner Wednesday through to Saturday, on Sunday, a special lunch is served between midday and 5pm.
There are bar snacks that include nocellara olives in garlic, thyme and orange marinade, with pork quavers topped with lemon and thyme salt and burnt apple, and hickory almonds. Who doesn't love a selection of picky bits? We'd order artisan bread with Pig Dug truffle butter and lavender honey with ox cheek croquettes served with roasted bone marrow emulsion and nasturtium. Small plates are suitable as starters or for sharing options, and there are some really fantastic dishes to choose from. The Dublin Bay prawns come with bitter lime, watercress, gremolata and roasted garlic, then there's Dingley Dell pork belly with a Korean BBQ glaze, crispy shallot, pickled Asian slaw and Japanese mayo, and the Wye Valley asparagus with poached hen's egg with truffle and hazelnut hollandaise.
On the large plate menu are the dishes of a summer garden with vegetables, yeast, tarragon, mizuna and sorell, and Blixe's Farm lamb canoon with a fennel croquette, onion, pea and broad bean Francaise, carrot and jus. To go with your main, try the truffle pomme puree with port jus, nduja hash browns with a roasted garlic emulsion and seasonal leafy green with a rich truffle butter. It's certainly very truffle heavy!
