The Drum Inn is one of the country's many Vintage Inns pubs, and has a rich history to its name. The pub restaurant dates back to 1936, when it was constructed by the world famous architect – Sir Edwin Lutyens. The pub was designed to be the focal point of the village, and still remains as such today, with its traditional charm retained yet with modern restorations that have allowed guests to keep visiting The Drum Inn for a wonderful meal.
There are great meals on the menu at The Drum Inn year round, and the menu changes to reflect the seasons. During the warmer months, you'll notice summery seasonal flavours on the menu that are perfect for quick lunch date bites, long and leisurely dinners with a bottle of wine, and wholesome Sunday roasts. Monday to Friday, enjoy starters of creamy garlic oven baked mushrooms in a cheesy cheddar sauce with a toasted artisan bloomer, and sticky crispy chicken bites that are glazed in a chipotle chilli jam. Other starters include the metling camembert drizzled with blossom honey, served with apricot and ginger chutney and bread to dip, perfect for two to share. There are some great mains on offer, including the seared fillets of sea bass with king prawns, crispy baby potatoes, broad beans, peas and tenderstem broccoli in a creamy white wine sauce, and the home baked pie of the day topped with puff pastry, and served with spring onion mash, roasted carrots and greens.
For pudding, order the choux pastry buns filled with banana creme patisserie and topped with vanilla ice cream and a caramelised banana, or the chocolate honey pot filled with silky chocolate mousse, smooth honey and crunchy honeycomb, served with a home baked shortbread biscuit and honeycomb ice cream.
