Located at The Royal Arms Hotel in Lancaster, The Crypt is a stylish cocktail lounge and eaterie for lively weekends of drinks, food, and live music. Aptly named, The Crypt is a small, intimate bar reminiscent of a chamber, creating a buzzing atmosphere of music that will keep you dancing and singing until late.
The venue features a fully-licensed bar, sound equipment and lighting, as well as a fairly neutral aesthetic that is enlivened by the bright lights and live acts. The Crypt supports small acts from the local area, with musicians performing every week from 8:30pm onwards.
In true local-spirit, the menu first offers a selection of local products ranging from Lancaster dry gin, Lancaster vodka, ales and even a handcraft gin that changes colour when a mixer is added - the perfect choice for a lively evening. The bar knows how to get the party going with its offer of two cocktails for £12 including a pina colada, negroni, a woo woo and even a white Russian added into the mix. Although popular classics like a passion fruit martini, mojito, cosmo and margarita are priced separately. As a fully licensed bar, the menu has a range of wines, spirits and liqueurs to suit everyone's tastes; not forgetting those alcohol-free drinks including delicious mocktails and non-alcoholic beers and spirits.
All the music and drinks is sure to make you peckish and sharing platters make for the perfect bar snacks to nibble on with friends. The crypt combo combines a variety of cusines with Greek koftas, Indian pakoras, Thai chicken and crispy fish fingers. Other platters include a fish selection, a farmer's roots and flowers option and a baked, roasted and grilled feast. If you don't fancy sharing, the small plates may tempt you; a spicy tomato salsa makes a great dip for the vegetable pakora, while hand cut chips are an easy snack that is an all-round crowd-pleaser.
