The Royal Oak in Swindon’s in-house restaurant, The Choptank, mixes an easy going atmosphere and pub feel with an indulgent menu and oyster bar. The food menu has been created with seasonal, British produce in mind and offers some creative twists on classic dishes. Food will be served four days a week, from Thursday to Sunday, with a variation of menus.
Guests can choose from the oyster list, a la carte menu and pizza selection – although these are served at the bar only. Those visiting on the final day of the week , though, can try out the Sunday menu which offers two courses for £16.95 and three courses for £19.95. Exampls of what’s in store include honey and pine nuts with goat cheese cicchetti, roasted loin of pork with sausage and apricot seasoning and treacle tart.
The Royal Oak books live jazz musicians to play at the venue every Tuesday from 8pm and while the food menu isn’t available this early in the week, there are also bi-weekly sessions on a Sunday from 3pm for those wishing to enjoy entertainment alongside their lunch.
The pub and restaurant is also extremely passionate about serving high quality champagne and gin, claiming to have the largest collection of the latter in the area. If you’re planning on trying their oysters, then speak to the staff about which libations will complement your choice most.
