Jimmy Garcia is somewhat of a legend in the London pop-up scene. Beginning over a decade ago with a supper club in his front room, he has now well and truly coined South Bank summer dining after hosting his various foodie concepts looking over the river, year after year.
This winter Jimmy is back, taking up residence in the west wing of Somerset House with his new pop-up: The Chalet. Just metres away from the site’s grand ice rink, here, the theme continues with a taste of the Alps, offering alpine-inspired dishes and festive tipples, to be enjoyed pre or apres Skate. Here, you’ll find a cosy, chalet-themed restaurant, complete with wood-panelled walls and snowy portraits, with festive foliage and ambient lighting to get you in that Christmas spirit.
The menu offers an array of dishes, with small and large plates alongside an indulgent British cheese fondue. Tuck into the likes of beetroot and gin cured salmon with fennel seed and smoked salmon parfait, or maple and safe roasted kabocha squash with radicchio, pear and pumpkin seed to start. This comes followed by the likes of wild boar sausage with pommes aligot and caramelised onion or charcuterie boards full of artisan British meats.
For something a bit different, be sure to check out the cheese fondue pots, available for two or more people. Choose from the classic cheese, Coastal cheddar and Ogleshield, or go for the vegan options made with truffle, mushroom and coconut milk. Both pots come with unlimited sourdough, potatoes, silverskin onions and cornichons with a whole host of extras available to order. Take your fondue to the next level with wild boar sausage, roasted broccoli or even more cheese!
You can also hire out several private dining spaces, whether it be a corporate event, branch launch or birthday party, the perfect setting for your festive celebration.
