The Botanist, York is a cocktail bar and restaurant ideally located in the city centre close to many retailers and attractions such as the York Dungeons and York Castle Museum. The Botanist York is contemporary and cosy with beamed ceilings and wooden tables. The seasonal menu is full of classic British dishes and favourites, with starters such as baked camembert to share served in a bread bowl with cranberry relish, and crunchy pork crackling served with chilli jam.
Main courses include dishes such as traditional fish and chips, and steaks served with chunky chips. You will also find a number of vegetarian dishes on the menu such as the crispy halloumi burger served with red cabbage slaw, and a roasted butternut salad served with candied walnuts and clementine. The Botanist is also well known for their hanging kebab menu, which includes a chicken kebab served with garlic oil, and a lamb kofta kebab served with harissa jam. There is also a vegetarian option. There are also plenty of side dishes ideal for sharing such as garlic flatbread, seasoned chips and green veg. Desserts include raspberry and almond frangipane tart served with ice cream and raspberry coulis, and gingerbread cake served with rum, black pepper and date syrup.
