A disused indoor car park isn’t the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of good places to eat, but that’s exactly where this restaurant finds itself. Featuring an open plan kitchen and bar, as well as an outdoor space for alfresco dining, the Yard Café offers a retreat from the City’s bustle (although you can still spy the Shard). A seasonally-changing British menu sees diners pick from small plates like mac ‘n’ cheese, and devilled whitebait with garlic mayonnaise, or larger options of hanger steak with tomatoes, portobello mushrooms and chips or pan fried hake with a mixed bean salad and chimichurri sauce. Desserts include sweet treats of sticky toffee pudding and New York-style cheesecake, while the drinks list spans from budget to blow-out via cocktails and craft beers, and wines and Champagne.
