Set in the cathedral-like atrium of a Grade II-listed art-deco building (originally a cinema), the lounge at this new Asian-owned upmarket hotel in Shepherd’s Bush is a dramatic prospect. The whole
space is so monumental that the somewhat perfunctory bar looks lost – although gauche velvet thrones, rattan patio sets, kitsch lamps and gold drapes reinforce the impression of palatial
orientalism. A fair wine list has Prosecco at £7.50 by the glass, while global bar snacks run to chicken satay, nachos, deep-fried squid, sliders and pulled pork buns. To sip, Sidecar and Singapore
Sling appear alongside signature serves such as Dorsett Duchess (Absolut vodka, apple, lychee liqueur and lychee juice lengthened with lemonade) and a Sakerina made with grapefruit and Umeshu plum
liqueur. Elsewhere, the line-up of beers is low on London interest.
