Following a makeover, what was The Distillers lounge has emerged as Barts – a chichi
Smithfield pub and kitchen done out in shades of mocha, mushroom and mink. Head upstairs to the intimate Balfour Bar and you’ll find wines from the owners’ Hush Heath Estate including Kentish
Chardonnay and sparkling Balfour Brut Rosé by the glass, carafe and bottle alongside off-piste tipples from around the globe. Also from Hush Heath come Jake’s Orchard ciders including sparkling
nettle, strawberry and blackcurrant versions. Although St Bart’s is ‘brewery’ in name only, you can sup Meantime draught beer and various craft ales – although the evenings-only Balfour is really
about cocktails: try Kentish Stinger (Hush Heath Pinot Noir, mint, gomme and cider brandy) or Brit Spritz (Chase gin, rhubarb liqueur, lemon and Balfour Brut Rosé on the rocks).
