Thai Spice is in central Brighton. It’s just a short walk from several major attractions, including the beach, Brighton Palace Pier, Brighton i360 and Victoria Gardens.
The food menu features a range of Thai favourites. Starters include tod man pla (fish cakes), pak chub (vegetable tempura) and kung pao (grilled king prawns). The Thai Spice mixed platter combines all the favourite starters, so is a great way to sample a good selection of what’s on offer.
Mains are divided into soups, stir fries, curries, grilled dishes, yum (spicy salads), noodles and rice. Tom yum poh taek (spicy mixed seafood variety) is ideal for two to share, and there’s also a standard tom yum and tom kha, which is similar but less spicy due to coconut milk.
Stir fry options are broad and all are served with either chicken, pork, beef, squid, prawns or mixed vegetables. Standouts include pad piew wan (spicy and finished with Thai basil), kratiem prik Thai (shredded fresh ginger and a variety of vegetables) and pad nam man hoi (mushrooms with an oyster sauce). Pad thai and pad kee mao also both feature.
Those opting for a curry are greeted with the classics: red, green, kaeng ped yang (roasted duck) and massman. There’s also kaeng pah (very spicy and with Thai herbs and bamboo shoots). Salads are headlined by som tam, the famous Thai papaya salad.
Thai Spice also has two set menus. These are both £22.95 and distinguished by their levels of spiciness. The lunch deal features two courses for £10.50 or an express lunch for £8.50.
