Plenty of restaurants in Cornwall pride themselves on making the most of the area’s proximity to fishing villages and country farms, but Temple has embedded fastidious sourcing into its entire ethos. With a focus on sustainability and achieving the goal of zero-waste, Temple works with local Cornish suppliers to ensure that are as few miles as possible between the origin of the ingredients the kitchen uses and the plated up dish that ends up on your table.

At lunchtime, you can pop into Temple to enjoy a takeaway item from its deli counter. Options to choose from include vibrant salad boxes and focaccia sandwiches filled with the likes of roast chicken or smoked trout with cream cheese. Also on the menu are a daily changing selection of freshly baked sweet treats such as a chocolate and cardamom babka or a slice of poppyseed, orange blossom and buttermilk layer cake. If you have a bit more time on your hands, there are dine-in lunch options too - think eggs on sourdough toast or a grilled cheese and kimchi sandwich.

It is during the evening though, that the restaurant really comes alive. During dinner service, Temple offers diners a two-course set menu. The first course consists of a handful of starter-sized small plates which guests are encouraged to share, while for the second course you can choose from a choice of mains which will arrive at the table accompanied by a selection of side dishes (all included in the price of £25 per person). The selection of dishes evolves with the seasons, but options you might find on the menu when you visit include barbecue pork loin with grilled onions, apple and black pepper mostarda, or a daily grilled fish served alongside vegetables and hazelnut romesco. Wines and other drinks are also available.
