Much-loved Cambridge street-food stalwarts Steak & Honour – purveyors of the finest burgers in the shire – have finally opened a permanent site, in the heart of town. The brief menu offers the familiar juicy 100% beef patties in a brioche bun, along with sides such as crispy fries and slaw. Try the One For Ella burger, which comes with a bacon and barbecue sauce (load up on napkins, you’ll need them). Sadly, patience is a pre-requisite here: there’s squeezy seating over three floors for just 40 people, no reservations, a fast-food style order-at-the-counter system and long waits at peak times. Basically, it’s the same street-food experience, but in the dry and with the hope of a seat. Great for students looking for a takeaway, but if it’s a restaurant you’re after, try Butch Annie’s instead. Alternatively, stick with the original retro S&H vans, still plying their trade at local pop-up events.
