St Enodoc Hotel is a boutique hotel with a fresh, beachy aesthetic and fine dining restaurant in Rock, Cornwall. Its coastal location is very popular thanks to its turquoise waters, unique coves and pale sandy beaches, and so the St Enodoc Hotel is blessed with picturesque surroundings. From the outdoor spaces you can look out to the sea, while the hotel’s brasserie boasts panoramic views.
Karrek is the hotel’s fine dining restaurant and offers a nine-course tasting menu and optional accompanying wine flight. Karrek describes itself as ‘intimate’ and has minimalist, grey-toned décor with views out to the shoreline. The menu is seasonal and locally-sourced, designed to highlight Cornish produce. This is part of the hotel’s appeal as the owners, who are a family team, also own a nearby farm and use as much of their own meat and vegetables as possible.
Examples of sample dishes that you might try at Karrek include a trio of snacks; seaweed taco, porthilly oyster mousse and Shiba saba, lightly smoked lamb with celeriac and potato stuffed with braised lamb alongside fermented wild garlic stem and pickled wild garlic buds. While, previous desserts have been caramelised white chocolate mousse with strawberry and basil.
If you’d prefer to dine in a more casual setting, though, the brasserie overlooks the Camel Estuary and has plenty of space on its terrace for when the weather is behaving itself. Throughout the summer (until the end of September) BBQs are held from 12noon to 2.30pm every Saturday.
