Söderberg is a group of Swedish cafes with seven branches in Edinburgh and two in London. Here, you will find authentic Swedish food that is made with high quality ingredients, to the standard of classic recipes. You can pop in during the morning time for a delicious brunch, before lunch is served, along with afternoon tea treats of cakes, waffles and open sandwiches. In the evening, pizzas, platters and salads feature on the menu, along with a delicious cocktail list.
Brunch is served until 5pm, so if you're having a lie-in, you don't have to rush out of bed for any of that 11am nonsense. Order Katy Rodger's yoghurt with fruit and honey, or a scone with butter and jam for a light bite with coffee. The cinnamon, vanilla and blueberry and vegan bullar (buns) are a big hit, as are the Swedish waffles. You can choose toppings from a selection of jam and clotted cream, maple syrup and toasted hazelnuts and Belhaven Smokehouse smoked salmon and creme fraiche. A classic meatball brunch is then served, paired with oven baked eggs and toasted sourdough, and your choice of walnut and basil pesto or chilli jam. Eggs come in two ways – omelettes and baked in the oven. Choose to cook your eggs with jamon serrano, mushroom and cheddar or avocado.
From the main menu, choose a roasted five spice aubergine salad made with peppers, chickpeas, toasted sesame, flaked almonds and a tahini and lime dressing, or the hot goat's cheese open sourdough sandwich with fresh oregano and aged balsamic. Pizzas are made from a slow fermenting sourdough made in the upstairs bakery, and there are topping options of artichoke with spinach, garlic oil, mozzarella and a creme fraiche base, along with the classics like a margherita, chorizo and even a Swedish meatball option with lingonberry jam.
