Socius opened back in early 2018, and is a restaurant space that feels relaxed, almost like home. Inviting everyone, Natalie and Dan have always had the idea for this restaurant tucked away in the back of their heads, and say that they pinch themselves still to this day that their dream of owning a restaurant is now reality.
At Socius, the goal of the team is simple - to make sure that customers feel relaxed, and enjoy a memorable food and drink experience. Offering dishes prepared with locally sourced produce which change to reflect the seasons, this restaurant, which has won a number of accolades and been featured in the Michelin guide in 2023, is served in the form of small plate or snacks, making it perfect to share. The kitchen is open plan, so that the sociable dining experience encourages guests to kick back and relax, while watching the chefs get to work.
The daily menu is served between Wednesday through to Saturday between 12 and 2pm, and 6 and 9pm in the evenings, on Sunday, service is between 12 and 2.30pm. Small, well behaved dogs are also welcome during daytime service only. Start off your meal with a Chambord Bramble or Passionfruit Cooler, before enjoying dishes of Socius focaccia with whipped butter and sticky king prawns in a chilli glaze. Further dishes include crown prince squash with goat’s cheese, chilli and hazelnut, along with peri peri cauliflower cooked in pomegranate and oregano. The dish of roasted carrots with peanut, gochujang, sesame, shallots and coriander is delightful, and pages the way for the sweet finish. Picture the Socius chocolate bar with salted caramel, hazelnut and gelato, and roasted plum bakewell with stem ginger and clotted cream.
