Skogan is a stylish cafe, bar and pizza restaurant in Solihull, Birmingham. As the name suggests, the venue takes its inspiration from Scandinavia and is duly decked out with rustic wooden panelled walls, industrial lighting and even fun neon signs spelling out Scandi phrases.
For lunch and dinner, get stuck into the menu of hand-stretched pizzas, all designed to bring a touch of Northern Europe to the West Midlands. Take the Prosciutto and Blue, for example, which is topped with mozzarella, Jarlsberg Norwegian cheese, prosciutto ham and Danish blue cheese, or the classic Margherita which has been updated with a sprinkle Norwegian cheese, too.
If you fancy something to share then, of course, you can't beat a smörgåsbord with chorizo, salami, Serrano ham, Parmesan, guindilla peppers, baby gherkins, rocket and freshly baked sourdough flatbread. Or, why not try the baked camembert with grapes, green apple and baby gherkins?
Come evening and Skogan's atmosphere kicks up a notch as the music gets a little louder and the vibe a little looser. The bar serves up a mean cocktail list with seven different types of martini, including a Battenberg which mixes raspberry vodka, Amaretto, raspberry syrup, fresh cranberry and lime juices and an Orange Espresso Martini with vodka, fresh espresso and triple sec served with creamy foam and a hint of orange zest. You'll also find all the classics from a Cosmopolitan to a Pina Colada, and plenty of spritzs to keep you going through summer and beyond too.
If beer is more your thing, you'll be excited to hear that there are 10 on tap which rotate regularly to offer something new and unique from smaller breweries. There's also an impressive wine list spanning whites, reds roses and sparkling, perfect for a celebration.
There's never a dull moment at Skogan - the website boasts a packed events schedule with live music on selected nights, as well as a weekend brunch with scotch pancakes, avocado smash and eggs royale. Plus, if you need a space to host your next event or birthday party, you can also take over the private dining areas so give the team a call.
