This is the eighth UK location for Scottish chef Nico Simeone’s tasting menu restaurant, which already boasts outposts across the UK, in cities such as Belfast, Manchester, Edinburgh and Liverpool. Six by Nico Canary Wharf is the group’s second London location (following the debut site in Fitzrovia) and also its biggest site yet, clocking in at just over 4,000 square feet.
The Six by Nico concept is a simple one - a themed six-course tasting menu which changes every six weeks and which will leave you with change from £40 if you stick to tap water (something of a novel premise, considering tasting menus in the capital can often be priced north of £100). For those willing to spend a little extra, an option wine pairing is available, while there is also a dedicated bar area where you can expect to sip on a selection of fun and innovative house cocktails, which are primed for Instagram sharing.
Unsurprisingly, the restaurant group has become known for its affordability, but guests also enjoy the creativity of the tasting menu themes - previous iterations have been inspired by New York, Thai street food and even the famed Mad Hatters Tea Party from classic children’s novel Alice in Wonderland. A dedicated vegetarian version of each menu is also available for diners avoiding meat.
Six by Nico Canary Wharf has room for 100 diners at one time, boasting a main dining room as well as a 20-cover outdoor terrace for warmer nights, which is handily situated on the docks of the Thames, guaranteeing relaxing riverside views.
Speaking about the opening, Simeone said: “We have always had big ambitions and our team are excited to be opening our second London location in Canary Wharf. The restaurant is our biggest yet... I look forward to bringing our one-of-a-kind dining experience to the area. London has always been integral to our growth and Canary Wharf’s proximity to the backbone of the city, the Thames, lent itself perfectly to my curated expansion plan.”
