Shutters is an all-day dining restaurant and bar located on the ground floor of One Canada Square, serving Cornish fare slap bang in the middle of one of London’s largest business districts. The cuisine here celebrates fresh Cornish produce, from sea and land, but prepared, cooked and inspired by the sunny state of South California.
The restaurant is a stylish, Conran-designed space open for brunch, all-day dining and roasts on Sundays, seven days a week. The menu is deeply rooted in a farm-to-fork ethos and features lots of fish, as well as modern twists on classic dishes. For breakfast, there’s steak and eggs, lobster benedict and The Dutchie, which combines a Dutch pancake, smoked bacon, melted Swiss cheese and maple whipped salted butter.
From the all-day menu, there are separate sections dedicated to lobster, fish (surf), meat (turf), salads, light bites and dishes from the raw bar. Expect the likes of Cornish crab with sourdough toast, brown crab mayo, preserved lemon and chilli, salmon ceviche with soy, lime and ginger, tempura lobster with blue corn tacos, salsa roja and pickles and smoked beef brisket with succotash and pickles. There’s also a child-friendly menu for little ones.
The drinks range from cocktails to a generous wine list including ‘sticky wines, port and sherry’, as well as cider, soft drinks and its Meantime Keller Fresh Tank Beer from one of London’s craft breweries.
Upstairs is a cocktail bar, Cartel, which takes its inspiration from Mexico. Guests can sip on artisan Mezcals, pure Tequilas, clean spirits and top shelf tipples from around the world alongside an array of tasty tacos. There’s also a Supernatural counter where busy commuters can stop by for a smoothie, fresh pressed juice, hand-roasted Cornish coffee as well as tasty pastries and snacks. In the evening, stop by for a glass of natural, low-intervention wine while you snack on a selection of cured meats and cheeses.
