Sandwich Sandwich Fenchurch Street is due to become the largest sandwich shop in the UK, with 3,500 sq ft of space inside the massive store. After the original Bristol site became a city-wide phenomenon, Sandwich Sandwich ventured to London in 2024, becoming one of the capital’s most talked about new openings. Sandwich Sandwich City on Gresham Street in the City of London still regularly has queues snaking out of the door and down the road as sandwich-fans line up for one of Sandwich Sandwich’s Insta-famous sandos, but head of operations and marketing Joshua Kleiner was already lining up the next move for the fast-growing group.
Kleiner has said previously that Sandwich Sandwich wants to go toe-to-toe with the UK’s big sandwich players, such as Pret a Manger and Subway, with multiple openings in London and potentially other UK cities.
This Sandwich Sandwich site - the group’s second in London and fifth including three Bristol sites - is a sign of that ambition. At 3,500sq ft it is the largest sandwich shop in the UK. With rows of ordering points as well as seating inside, one can hope that the queues won’t be quite as long as they are currently, but the hype continues to grow so we’d still advise you to prepare for a bit of a wait.
Sandwich Sandwich has become famous for stacked sandwiches, with hefty fillings packed into fluffy white bread. Fillings change regularly, and recently have included the likes of Mediterranean lamb with minty feta, crispy potato rosti, and cucumber and mint salad, as well as Coronation chicken with cucumber, mango chutney and mint yoghurt. The group also sells wrapped flatbreads, hefty hot meat sandwiches (like burgers) in brioche buns, and viral desserts like an Oreo cheesecake, and a salted caramel and pistachio Crodough (a croissant doughnut).
