The Bristol-born sandwich shop known for its hefty portion sizes and whacky fillings makes its London debut with this site in St Paul’s. Sandwich Sandwich (so good it named it twice and all that) has made a name for itself for its gourmet (read: ginormous) sandwiches and reasonable prices. Now, Londoners can get their fix of the mega lunch item.
The business is very much a family affair. It was originally launched in 2012 by Josh Kleiner with his dad and brother. You can now buy its sarnies from multiple sites across Clifton, Park Row and Baldwin Street in Bristol, and it also offers a catering service for those who want to make an extra-large order for groups and events.
Sandwich Sandwich has found its first London home on Gresham Street just behind St Paul’s, putting it in prime lunch-spot territory for anyone who works in the City. Take note though: these guys mean business when it comes to fillings, with the brand famed for its mega portion sizes and over-sized sarnies. For a flavour of what to expect, examples of fillings include sliced southern fried chicken with house coleslaw and spicy creole sauce; pulled ham hock with mature cheddar, garlic and parmesan soft cheese, fresh parsley and homemade piccalilli; and pulled pork with hoisin sauce, cucumber and spring onion.
Sandwich Sandwich aren’t just known for their sandwiches though. These guys also turn out legendary Scotch eggs, as well as filled flatbreads, hot meat sandwich stacks and salad boxes. On the sweet front, you can also find tempting treats like fudgy chocolate brownies and homemade cheesecakes – think Oreo, Biscoff and pistachio.
The brand was able to make the jump over to London after winning a £100k prize from being crowned Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year in 2023.
