Royal's India is one of the many restaurants that calls Covent Garden home, and offers guests the chance to try a fantastic blend of authentic and contemporary Indian dishes in the heart of London. Theatre goers may pop in for a pre-show dinner and locals know exactly what they'll be ordering from the menu, time and time again. There are plenty of traditional favourites on the menu, along with some more unique creations from the in-house chefs.
Starters include a paneer pakora, chicken tikka bombs and prawn poori, along with freshly made onion bhajis, vegetable samosas and lamb kebabs. Next up on the menu are the tandoori dishes, with flavours and tenderness that can be attributed to the traditional tandoori oven. The chicken tandoori is a low fat curried chicken that doesn't hold back on flavour, made with yoghurt, garlic and aromatic spices, whilst the hariyali chicken tikka is a little more punchy, made with a blend of fresh mint, spinach and coriander, before being barbecued in the clay oven. The restaurant highly recommends the ajwaini salmon, which is super juicy and tasty, and the Royal's mixed grill that includes tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, lamb boti and seekh kebab, with the choice to add prawns.
The murgh-e-specials include a very famous chicken tikka masala in a creamy, orange coloured velvety sauce, along with the vibrant hara bhara chicken with baby spinach leaves. Lamb specials include tandoori lamb chops marinated with yoghurt and tandoori spices overnight, before being cooked in a masala sauce, and the fish bhojan dishes are always a great choice. Choose from the Goa fish curry with fresh coconut and Indian spices, and the king prawn bhuna with a mix of garlic and ginger to bring out the flavour.
