Roxy's Bistro Bar is a chic, modern European restaurant and bar in the vicinity of Bournemouth - the restaurant is accessible from the town centre, but far enough out that Roxy's has a casual, relaxed vibe, in a quieter part of town.
The first things you see from the road are a handful of cute pink chairs and tables with chequered bistro tableclothes outside the front of the restaurant - a perfect place to lounge in the sun with a drink. Head on inside and you'll find a smart, spacious restaurant that is bright and airy thanks to the large front windows, and has room inside for large parties.
The menu is an eclectic mix of international favourites from all over the globe. Starters come as tapas-style sharers, and include spicy chicken wings, deep-fried, breadcrumbed Cheddar cheese, and battered calamari rings, before heading into a selection of bistro-style mains that includes pan-fried duck breast with orange sauce, spaghetti carbonara, mushroom stroganoff and pan-fried seabass with Mediterranean salad.
There seems to be some Romanian influence in the kitchen too, as there's a special section of the menu dedicated to Romanian dishes like mititei - skinless pork sausages with garlic and herbs - stuffed cabbage rolls with mincemeat and rice, and flambeed chicken with chilli, peppers, onions, and cream. There are also papalas - Romanian doughnuts served with Morello cherries and sour cream.
Roxy's Bistro Bar also does a good trade in breakfast and brunch. The former is a classic mix of English breakfast items - hash browns, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, bacon and the like - as well as little treats like French toast with maple syrup. Brunch is more of a savoury affair, with steak baguettes, club sandwiches, fish and chips, and burgers on the menu.
