Riverside restaurant River Spice is an Indian restaurant located on the banks of the Thames where it brings a wealth of authentic dishes, flavours and spices to Reading’s dining scene. Designed to offer an elevated take on Indian cuisine, the menu features a large of classic and signature dishes, with the kitchen team preparing each dish fresh every day.
The smart dining room boasts burgundy walls, white tablecloths and high-back chairs to create a comfortable and cosy atmosphere for its diners. The real selling point though, is its enviable location, and there is outdoor seating to the rear of the restaurant so that guests can soak up views of the river while they dine. Make sure to snag a spot here during the summer months. A car park on site, meanwhile, ensures the restaurant is easily accessible.
Choose from an expansive range of starters including chicken momos (dumplings), tikka dishes, onion bhajis and samosas. Tandoori dishes, classic curries and biryanis are all on the menu, while a selection of signature specials is perfect for those looking to try something different. Look out for Bahaar, which sees ostrich or venison cooked in a spiced sauce, or Sikandari Lamb Shank cooked on the bone, marinated in spices and roasted in the tandoor.
Of course, an Indian feast isn’t complete without a few sides. Choose from speciality breads, fragrant rice dishes as well as lots of vegetable sides and sundries. Bombay aloo, gobi bhajee, palak paneer and tarka daal are all popular options. You can also order extra curry sauce - madras, vindaloo, korma and bhuna for example – to go alongside any of your dishes!
Do note that the menu is available to takeaway as well, which you can do via the website. For any dietary requirements, make sure to phone the restaurant in advance to let the team know.
