Whether you're staying at The Bristol hotel or simply live locally and looking for an aesthetically pleasing place to enjoy a good tipple, Rick's promises expertly mixed cocktails and a curated menu of snacks, starters and brunch dishes.
As the newest addition to the river-fronted hotel, Rick's benefits from a fresh, modern design inspired by warmer climates. Oatmeal-toned walls are slathered in textured plaster ticking some of this year's biggest design trends, complemented by rattan furniture, woven pendant lighting and huge potted palms. So, while you might not be sipping that cocktail in Tulum, it almost feels like it.
Rick's is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from midday to late and kicks off with a brunch to lunch menu. There are some classics in there, such as eggs florentine with spinach and hollandaise on a toasted muffin, as well as brioche french toast with berry compote and mascarpone, and aubergine shakshuka. If you're looking for something even hardier, the Buxton Butchers 6 oz sirloin with two fried eggs sounds top notch.
Come evening and it's all about nibbles to pair with your drinks with bites like Korean fried chicken and sriracha mayo or crispy salt and pepper calamari, as well as boards laden with treats that can be shared between a few. The West Country Cheese Board is perfect for those who want to get a taste of what's good locally and includes cheeses like Bath Blue, Somerset Camembert, Westcombe Cheddar, Tor Goats cheese,
fig chutney, grapes, crackers and focaccia.
Now, onto the drinks and guests can expect an extensive selection of cocktails (signature and classic), alcohol-free concoctions, wines by the glass and even fine wines, which thanks to the Coravin pouring system, can be enjoyed by the glass or the bottle. Of course, if beers or spirits are more your thing that's no problem either - the gin list alone is 20 strong!
