Valley View Restaurant at The Mallyan Spout Hotel - Goathland

Valley View restaurant is part of the charming Mallyan Spout Hotel in Goathland, which also boasts a coffee shop and bar on its grounds. The restaurant’s dining room is an elegant setting, complete with crisp white walls, sparkling chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and large windows which flood the space with natural light. There are a number of tables available for both small and larger parties, with guests able to cosy up in comfortably plush tub chairs upholstered in a shade of light blue velvet.

Valley View serves a seasonally changing menu of elegant contemporary dishes and is open each day of the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as serving a classic afternoon tea. To start, you might tuck into the likes of a smoked salmon and crab salad featuring avocado, fennel and an apple and crab mayonnaise, or you could instead go down the indulgent route with creamy garlic mushrooms accompanied by toasted brioche. Main courses meanwhile may include dishes such as curried cod loin with a mango and chilli salsa or honey roasted duck breast with fondant potatoes and vegetables. Dietary requirements are catered for too, via the likes of a vegan plant-based burger, a gluten-free butternut squash risotto and a vegetarian cheese and onion pie.

To finish, treat yourself to a pudding from Valley View’s tempting list - Eton mess perhaps? Or sticky toffee pudding with rum and raisin ice cream. Children can dine from a dedicated kids menu filled with classics such as chicken and chips or sausage and mash, while grown ups can take advantage of Valley View’s extensive list of by-the-glass wines.
