One of London’s most central rooftop suntraps, this summer-only café and roof terrace – designed by the Eden Project and run by Company of Cooks – is a winner when you’re hitting the capital in the sunshine. High above hoi polloi, it offers alfresco drinkers ample seating among the colourful flower-filled planters, plus a mini lawn for all-out sunbathing and plenty of more secluded walkways in bloom: and that’s before you glimpse those enviable views of the Thames. Drinks and snacks do the job without reinventing the wheel; the most popular pour on a sunny day is, of course, a frothy jug of Pimm’s to share with friends. The terrace is also a hit with mums toting babies and toddlers – it’s super-accessible even with a buggy, and definitively one of the nicest baby-friendly venues in Zone One.
