If you're looking for a feel-good place to enjoy some great food, we think we've found just the spot. With Post Market Balham, the clue is in the name. You see, with a dream of creating a gastronomically inclusive space, they re-opened a beautiful, old post office in Balham and created a pop-up food market with an exciting programme of weekly events.
Here, local businesses and entrepreneurs can come together to promote and celebrate worldwide cuisines - in a poetic twist, the founders describe their role as "picking up where the postmaster left off" and offering those who visit the world, but in a different way.
You'll find there's a special focus on sustainable practice and vegan-based dishes, with the founders also take the time to find vendors who offer a really authentic interpretation of their cuisine. Among those exhibiting, you'll find the likes of suppliers from Smithfield Market, farmers from Clydesdale in Scotland, Karma Cola which partners with Ghanian farmers, as well as fresh produce and flowers daily, coming in from local London markets.
The website offers the availability to book a table in advance, which is perfect if you're planning on visiting the market for perhaps a birthday or work event, but you're more than welcome to just roll up, enjoy the vibes and grab a table on the fly, or stand with a drink and soak up the atmosphere. With the historic building behind you and cute festoon lighting ahead, it's a gorgeous place to go especially in the good weather.
Also, be sure to check out the events calendar which offers a whole host of fun. Past events have included disco dancing to 80s music, film nights and showings of all big sporting events. We can't think of a better place to get together and enjoy the cultural delights of London.
