Providing a fun and quirky dining experience in the centre of the town, the Pentalounge at Reading's Penta Hotel is the place to go to hang out and fill up on tasty food and inventive drinks in a cool, relaxed setting. Located at the heart of the hotel, this bar and restaurant is open both to residents and non-residents and serves everything from bar snacks to hefty burgers alongside an extensive range of cocktails. Add to this the games consoles, billiard table and lively background music and the Pentalounge becomes a fantastic chill-out destination.
Designed by architect Matteo Thun, the space has an ultra-stylish, contemporary look but also features some more traditional elements such as brown leather club chairs to add a level of cosiness. Purple neon lights provide a glow around the room while flashes of exposed contrast with the wooden floors. Comfy sofas and leather banquettes are just the place to kick back with a drink after eating.
When it comes to the Pentalounge’s food menu, there is something for all tastes and appetites. Bar snacks such as BBQ chicken wings and nachos are the perfect accompaniment to a few drinks, while there’s also a choice of sandwiches on offer throughout the day. For those looking for something a little more substantial to eat, the main menu features everything from pizzas and classic pasta dishes to a seafood laksa and lemon parmesan chicken with new potatoes. You can also build your own burger at the burger bar. Be sure to leave space for tempting puds such as a crème brulee with caramelised orange and a warm chocolate fondant with ice cream.
There’s plenty to choose from in terms of drinks too with plenty of different wines, beers and spirits available, as well as an extensive range of both classic and more unusual cocktails.
