For those who can't decide between going out clubbing or having a more social dinner, Oscars blends both. The lounge bar and nightclub is an addition to Mayfair's party scene, and it promises to serve up a blend of 'irresistibly sumptuous dinners and late night parties' to the sounds of house music.
Allegedly inspired by Mykonos and Tulum, it is a bit surprising that Oscars specialises in Pan Asian food. This menu is not designed to stuff you, rather to power you - expect to see options like nigiri platters or yakisoba noodles. However, the restaurant prides itself on its sushi, offering some inventive options like the carrot and mango maki roll with pickled carrot, mango, and togarashi, or the classic dragon roll with prawn katsu, avocado, and teriyaki. There is also a selection of starters designed to be shared, such as the gyoza (which come with vegetable, prawn, or chicken centres) or the veggie tempura with aubergine, pumpkin, Enoki mushrom, asparagus, and spicy mayo.
The drinks menu is a bit more expansive, and has some creative cocktails on the list for you to sip. The drink named after the restaurant, Oscars, includes flavours of gingerbread, lemon juice, orange juice, egg white, and gin, and the Birds in Paradise cocktail features a fresh hibiscus flower topped with Beluga Vodka and Champagne. For those who want to play it safe, there is also a selection of Champagnes, wines, and liquor bottles on the menu.
The restaurant itself is designed to eminate a party atmosphere, so don't be surprised to see low or colourful lighting, velvet lounge chairs, and lots of plants. The seating area for the restaurant is set apart from the dancefloor, but both are in the same room, so expect to hear the DJ from wherever you sit.
