One Square Bar + Brasserie

Located within the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh’s Old Town, One Square Bar + Brasserie is a contemporary restaurant serving seasonal Scottish dishes. Chef Shaun Woodhouse’s menu is focused around Scottish provenance and showcases produce from local suppliers in a simple yet stylish manner. Open throughout the day, One Square Bar + Brasserie has become a popular spot among Edinburgh locals and tourists alike to visit both for drinks and to try the high-quality food on offer.

One Square’s brasserie area has been designed to feel bright and airy with its high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, which let plenty of light into the room. Tables are widely spaced on the wooden floors and stone columns split the room in half and also provide a sense of grandeur. Meanwhile, the bar has a far more contemporary feel to it with its brightly coloured seats and modern art hanging from the walls. There is also a decent sized terrace area where you can brave the Scottish weather to enjoy al fresco drinks or even an outdoor meal.

Breakfast at One Square can be enjoyed both by residents and non-residents of the hotel, with classics such as kedgeree on the menu. When it comes to the all-day market menu, you can expect small plates ranging from crispy tofu with sweet chilli sauce to cajun chicken strips. Larger plates might include Shetland mussels, fish and chips, or a pretzel beef burger with skinny fries and bearnaise sauce, while there’s a short selection of sweet treats to finish.

Choose from over 100 varieties of gin at the bar or opt for one of the house cocktails. There’s also a separate wine list to accompany the food menu as well as beers on tap and a number of soft drink options too.
